House Cleaning in Newport Beach

Newport homes concentrate the three surfaces that punish careless cleaning hardest: a great deal of glass, a great deal of natural stone, and salt air working on both of them year round.

Stone is the part people get wrong

Marble, limestone, and travertine are everywhere in Newport — entry floors, master bathrooms, kitchen backsplashes, fireplace surrounds — and all three are calcium carbonate, which means acid dissolves them. Vinegar etches them. So does lemon, so do most bathroom descalers, and so do a lot of supermarket all-purpose sprays that do not advertise the fact. The damage is not a stain that can be cleaned off later; it is a dull spot in the polish, and fixing it is a refinishing job.

We use pH-neutral cleaner on any calcareous stone and we do not guess. If a surface cannot be positively identified, it gets treated as if it were marble, because the cost of being wrong in that direction is nothing and the cost of being wrong in the other direction is a stone restorer. Sealed granite and porcelain that merely looks like stone are much more forgiving, but the way to know is to ask, not to assume.

Glass, salt, and hard water in the same place

A Newport house often has more glass than wall. Sliders, clerestory windows, glass railings, and frameless shower enclosures, all of it near salt air and all of it fed by hard municipal water. That produces two deposits at once — airborne salt haze on the outside face, evaporated mineral on the inside — and a single wipe just redistributes them.

Interior glass gets its own pass here, and shower enclosures get their own product and their own dwell time. Frameless glass is the sharpest example: it shows everything, and once mineral has built into a haze it needs a proper deep clean to reverse, after which keeping it clear is a maintenance question rather than a restoration one. Stainless appliances behave the same way and get dried rather than left to spot.

Houses that sit empty, and houses on an island

A meaningful share of Newport property is a second home. Those places need a different rhythm: a clean before an arrival, a clean after a departure, and something modest in between so the house is not sitting shut for months collecting a fine film on every horizontal surface and mineral in every trap. We schedule around arrival dates rather than a fixed calendar, and a standing low-frequency recurring visit between stays is usually cheaper than the catch-up clean it prevents.

Balboa Island and the Peninsula add a practical constraint that has nothing to do with cleaning: parking. Lots are narrow, streets are narrower, and there is often no place to leave a vehicle near the door. It is not a problem, but it is a reason to tell us in advance where to park and whether there is an alley, so the visit starts on time.

FAQ

House cleaning in Newport Beach — common questions

How do you clean marble and limestone safely?

With pH-neutral products and no acid, ever. Vinegar, citrus, and most descaling products etch calcareous stone, and etching is physical damage to the polish rather than a stain. If we cannot confirm what a surface is, we treat it as marble by default — the conservative choice costs nothing and the alternative costs a refinishing job.

Can you clean the house before we arrive for the season?

Yes, and that is a common arrangement for second homes here. We schedule a pre-arrival clean against your travel dates, a close-down clean after you leave, and optionally a light standing visit in between so the house is not shut up for months. Tell us the dates and we build the schedule around them.

Do you do exterior windows?

We clean interior glass, mirrors, and shower enclosures. Exterior window washing, especially anything requiring ladders or lifts at height, is a separate trade, and we would rather point you to it than do it badly.

Parking on Balboa Island is difficult. Is that a problem?

Only if it is a surprise. Tell us at booking where we should park, whether there is alley access, and whether a permit or a spot in the garage is available. Sorted in advance it costs nothing; sorted on the day it costs the first twenty minutes of the visit.

Cleaning quotes go wrong when they are guessed from a square-footage number. What actually drives the time is the bathroom count, how the home is used, and the condition it is in right now — so those are the things we ask about.

  1. Send the basics. City, bedrooms, full and half bathrooms, and whether you want recurring, a one-time deep clean, or a move-out.
  2. We come back with a flat per-visit price. Not an hourly rate that moves, and not a range that resolves itself on the day.
  3. Pick a day and a cadence. Weekly, biweekly, monthly, or one time only. Change or pause it later without a penalty.

First visits often take longer than the ones that follow — a home coming off a long gap needs catch-up work before a routine rhythm makes sense. If that is your situation we will say so in the quote rather than discovering it in your driveway.
